NAILA’s Biggest Year Yet
In the face of challenging global developments, NAILA witnessed its biggest year since inception in 2015. The sixth annual NAILA Indonesian language competition was the most popular yet, with over 150 high-quality video applications received from across Australia in five award categories: Primary, Middle, Senior, Tertiary and Wild Card.
The theme for the 2020 competition, not coincidentally, was Health/Kesehatan, and category topics encouraged participants to engage in discussion about the importance of healthy living, the dangers of excessive screentime, the benefits of sport and exercise, mental health awareness, the potential for cross-border policy collaboration, and more.
Despite in-person gatherings proving impractical this year, NAILA was committed to celebrating the achievement of all participants, including awardees and runners-up. With that in mind, the NAILA leadership team, in collaboration with our Virtual Venue Sponsor the Australia-Indonesia Centre, organised an online Awards Ceremony in early December to highlight the enthusiasm of young Australian learners of Indonesian and celebrate the achievement of standout applicants.
NAILA would like to thank our Partners and Sponsors and VIP Judges for their enthusiastic support of NAILA and Indonesian language learning in Australia, and this year’s volunteer leadership team for their consistent hard work and dedication to the cause.
